Celtic fans got a very promising glimpse of the future when Mikey Johnston starred in the Scott Brown testimonial.
The 19-year-old made his debut just over a year ago against St Johnstone and made a couple of appearances this season till a thigh injury looked to have ended his season in January.
Against Ireland in Scott Brown’s testimonial the kid from Stepps was given a starting place and took his opportunity with style.
I want Mikey Johnston to replace Paddy in the squad. Boy is a talent.

Thing is a few tweaks and we are looking good. Don’t think there will be massive changes but one thing from todays game Mikey Johnston can replace Paddy easily

Over the last year Johnstone has taken a stretch and now has the physique to make the most of his natural talent.
As well as having the trickery to control a pass instantly he now has the explosive pace that seems essential in the modern game.
Patrick Roberts moved inside to a more central role giving Johnston the right flank to himself and he didn’t disappoint.
Brendan Rodgers is keen to develop and bring through the top talents from the Celtic Academy, the contribution made this season by Kieran Tierney, Callum McGregor and James Forrest has been priceless.
Under the guidance of Rodgers’ Johnston has the opportunity to join that trio in the heart of the Celtic side in the coming seasons.
Johnston is in the Scotland u-21 squad for the Toulon tournament, two years ago Scott Gemmill left him out of the Scotland squad at the u-17 European Championships in Azerbaijan- CLICK HERE for more.
