Speaking to selected broadcasters Dave King revealed that there was no outside interest in investing in Sevco.

Shortly afterwards he told newspaper reporters that he had turned down investment offers from Hong Kong because the company didn’t need the money!

The state of financing inside Ibrox seems to be a complete mystery although not of the positive kind.

In November when the audited accounts to June 2017 were published funding from the three bears had been withdrawn with King promising to fund the anticipated deficit for the season if £4.2m.

In February after claiming that they had arranged an overdraft with Close Brothers it emerged that a loan had been agreed with security given again the Albion Car Park, Edmiston House, the stadium wifi and catering outlets.

Most observers would conclude that such a company was badly in need of funding/investment but according to King he has turned down money offers from Hong Kong over the weekend!

Responding to the arrival of Steven Gerrard being a money-spinner for the club King told the Daily Record: “It will help us in the sense that the climate will be easier to deal with.

“Some of the Hong Kong investors have already said, ‘Dave we could maybe look at putting more into the club’. It’s not really going to change it from my point of view because we have enough lined up for what we want to do.

“I don’t want more money into the club at this point in time, I don’t want more money just for the sake of spending it. We have a certain plan and the funds are available for next year whether there is a rights issue or not and I’m not going to change that. But the climate is better, there’s no doubt that the profile of the club is higher.

“The interest in the club, internationally, we have already seen from Rangers TV output that we have had Chinese and Indonesians and Indians looking at Rangers Football Club because Steven Gerrard is here. That’s good, it improves it but in the short term it will have no impact whatsoever.”

Hong Kong based director Barry Scott resigned as a Sevco director last Wednesday.
