Reports at lunchtime claimed that Micky O’Halloran has joined Melbourne City with two year left on his Ibrox deal.

The usual suspects ‘broke’ the news but strangely there has been no comment from the A-League club on their website or twitter feed.

By mid-afternoon Celtic Park time the last twitter message from the club was a good luck message to the Socceroos ahead of their World Cup qualifier against Denmark.

Sevco splashed out £500,000 to sign O’Halloran from St Johnstone in January 2015 as Mark Warburton prepared to launch the #goingfor55 campaign.

Just over a year later the former city trader was informed that he had resigned with Graeme Murty and Pedro Caixinha showing no interest in the former Bolton ace.

St Johnstone took the 26-year-old back on loan at the start of last season but despite winning the Ladbrokes Player of the Month award for September he barely got a look in when he returned to Sevco in January.

With two years still to run on his lucrative Ibrox contract O’Halloran is likely to have agreed a pay off before agreeing the move to Australia.
