‘What’s the Manager doing?’ might be a decent question for Hugh Burns.

With tickets to be sold for a glamour friendly against Bury and a Europa League first round qualifier against Shkupi it seems that Steven Gerrard has fallen off the radar.

Not since June 27 has the new Ibrox gaffer uttered a word to the club’s communication channels.

Last Wednesday an interview with ‘Rangers TV’ was strung out into three separate stories on the club website- predictable puff pieces such as how the Spanish trip was hugely important, that the youngsters have been fantastic and an imaginative piece about ‘Fitness Ahead for Boss’.

Since then nada.

Gerrard didn’t Easyjet back to Glasgow with his squad, he missed out on the bonding exercise as the players jostled for luggage space with boozed up holiday makers.

Since a £2.5m transfer fee was agreed with Brighton for Connor Goldson no new transfer fees have been paid. Two season long loans are believed to be with the SFA awaiting work permits.

Jermaine Defoe and Fernando Torres will be watching their old mate from afar in the coming season.

Also absent is Dave King’s £6m Rights Issue, it’s unlikely that the long-distance chairman will be back in town for the matches against Bury and Shkupi.

Tomorrow the tribute act host The New Saints in a closed doors friendly at Murray Park, it’s likely that Gerrard’s side will be wearing training kit with no sign of any of the much acclaimed Hummel goodies.

It looks like this summer’s Revolution is starting to stumble, it’ll take much much more than some buzzwords from a former Liverpool youth coach to salvage a ship that has been treading water for three years.
