Oli McBurnie has killed off speculation that he was about to join Sevco by signing a three year deal for Swansea.

The striker uses his social media accounts to demonstrate his support for the tribute act and spent part of his summer break with Allan McGregor in Dubai.

With Sevco badly short of strikers a move for McBurnie seemed a certainty with some sources claiming that an offer of £4m had been made to Swansea.

Despite struggling for game time with the Welsh side the striker was happy to sign a new three year deal to remain at the Liberty Stadium.

I want to play regular football,” he told the Swansea websiteThat was one of the key things for me. If you want to be playing international football, as I do, you need to be playing first-team football for your club.

If you are not playing regularly, you are not going to get picked.

I have only had four starts at Swansea. Now I want to prove myself to the gaffer and everyone else and show that I can be a mainstay in this team.”

McBurnie was linked with a loan move to Ibrox in January but went to Barnsley while Jason Cummings moved north.

His goals for the Yorkshire side didn’t prevent them from being relegated but he did manage to pick up three international caps under Alex McLeish.

Cummings today joined League One side Peterboro on a season long loan from Nottingham Forest.
