Overlooking the fact that Rod Petrie would rather do anything other than sell to Celtic few hoops fans are getting too upset at the possible loss of John McGinn.
Three bids have apparently been rejected for the midfielder as Hibs have held off waiting for interest from England.
Stories of interest from Brighton and Blackburn have failed to materialise into a bid, such is Petrie’s desperation to sell McGinn he has been sent south to speak to Aston Villa without a fee being agreed.
Right player, wrong time.
Wouldn’t displace Brown, Ntcham or McGregor.
Ideal long-term replacement for Brown, but that could be 2 or 3 years down the line.#JohnMcGinn ????

If McGinn was a right sided defender there would be uproar among Celtic supporters. He’s not.
Central midfield is an area where Celtic are very well served.
Scott Brown isn’t on his last legs, he is good for at least two more seasons while Olivier Ntcham is miles ahead of McGinn in every area of the park.
As back up Callum McGregor can drop into either role, Eboue Kouassi has been incredibly patient and in reserve Kerr McInroy has everything you could ask for and is developing rapidly.
If McGinn signs for Villa it won’t impact on Celtic’s prospects of success in the season ahead. If the fee earmarked for Hibs is spent on a central defender or right back Celtic’s European hopes will immediately be improved.
