Chris Davies has explained Daniel Arzani’s omission from Celtic’s Europa League squad.

The teenager appeared as a substitute in each of Australia’s World Cup matches but has been left out of Celtic’s 25 man for the matches which start against Rosenborg on September 20.

After signing for Manchester City Arzani immediately moved to Celtic on a two year loan deal but has yet to feature in a first team squad.

Sixty minutes of action Hamilton Accies Reserve side has been the total of action so far for the winger with Davies not prepared to rush him into European action.

Daniel has been basically only in training with us for two weeks and it’s been kind of a broken two weeks at that, with the games that we’ve had,” the Celtic assistant told the Evening Times..

He’s building up his physical condition and he isn’t up to speed yet. He’s a young player adapting to a completely new environment but he has a two-year loan and there’s plenty of time for him to develop and grow at the club.

It’s important – especially the way we play – that players are reaching a real intense physical level and he will have all the support to do that here.

Being at he World Cup has delayed some players and that’s been a consideration with Daniel’s position. Marvin hasn’t been involved with the squads, even when he has been available and manager Brendan Rodgers] is aware of where he is at.

Celtic’s Reserve side aren’t back in action until Monday September 17 when they take on Aberdeen at Cappielow.

Ryan Mullen, Stephen Welsh, Robbie Deas, Daniel Church, Ewan Henderson, Kerr McInroy and Jack Aitchison are all involved with the Scotland u-19 squad in friendlies against Poland being played today and on Sunday.
