Steven Gerrard has admitted that Sevco get soft penalties at Ibrox.

After last night’s 0-0 draw with Spartak Moscow at Ibrox many supporters assumed that James Tavernier had missed his penalty but Dutch referee Kevin Blom didn’t award a penalty.

Almost every time Gerrard’s side got into the penalty box players were falling over but Blom refused to give in to the roars of the home supporters.

The loudest roar came in the last five minutes when substitute Eros Grezda hit the deck with Gerrard forced to admit that the Albanian fell too easily.

I haven’t had a chance to look it back, I think our player has gone down a little bit too theatrical but I’ve seen them given, especially at Ibrox,” Gerrard smirked to BT Sport.

On Sunday with Sevco drawing 1-1 away to Hamilton after 83 minutes referee Andrew Dallas awarded the Ibrox side two penalties which Tavenier converted.

The £2m rated former Wigan man is Sevco’s second top scorer this season with eight goals, seven of them coming from the penalty spot.

John Beaton will referee Sunday’s Betfred Cup semi-final against Aberdeen. Extreme right wing Tory MP Douglas Ross will be one of his assistants while Steven McLean, whose brother started his playing career with Rangers (IL) is the fourth official.
