The fan inside the accountant couldn’t resist a dig at the troubles of the Ibrox club during Celtic’s AGM.
Last month Celtic had their Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts rerouted from Hampden to Murrayfield after fans had made travel and accommodation arrangements.
The new deal seemed to suit three of the four semi-finalists with Celtic the only club inconvienced.
Hearts got a virtual home tie, Aberdeen supporters got a kick off time that suited public transport while fans of the club from Ibrox didn’t have to travel 50 miles east to watch the tribute act in action.
Celtic asked why the Murrayfield tie wasn’t decided by ballot with one fan at the AGM claiming that all of the arrangements had been set up to suit the club from the south side of Glasgow.
Butting in to much laughter Lawwell said: “And it worked out for them, didn’t it.”
Next Sunday Celtic face Aberdeen at Hampden in the final of the Betfred Cup, the match kicks off at 3pm with Celtic given an allocation of 25,000 tickets.
