Ryan Christie is facing weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hanstring injury during Celtic’s 4-1 win over Motherwell.

The midfielder pulled up early in the second half triggering the chaotic scenes that led to Motherwell’s goal and the fall out from taking advantage of the player needing treatment.

Jack Hendry replaced Christie with Kris Ajer moving into midfield as Celtic coped without their three first choice midfielders- Christie, Scott Brown and Callum McGregor.

The Sun reports:

RYAN CHRISTIE is out of the game against Hearts at Tynecastle with a hamstring injury.

And SunSport understands there are fears the Hoops’ attacking midfielder, could be sidelined for a number of weeks.

If it is a fully blown hamstring pull Christie is looking at at least four weeks out of action which would take him into the March international break.

On March 17 Celtic face Dundee with the third Glasgow derby coming two weeks later.

Tom Rogic is expected to return from injury during that period but the loss of Christie will be a big blow from the pre-split fixtures.

Brendan Rodgers will speak to the media today to discuss Wednesday’s match with Hearts at Tynecastle but the issue of Christie’s injury is bound to be discussed.
