When Vakoun Issouf Bayo was missing from the team lines yesterday a few Celtic fans expressed surprise.

With five changes from the side that lost on Thursday to Valencia it seemed like the opportunity for the former Dunajska Streda striker to get some game time.

After getting on for a few minutes last week at Kilmarnock getting Bayo up to match fitness will be a priority as the January signing looks to make his mark.

Today’s Reserve League fixture against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park (kick off 2pm) offers a simple solution with the 22-year-old expected to start the match for Tommy McIntyre’s side.

Two weeks ago Bayo played for an hour of the Reserve League match against Falkirk with the plan for today likely to be to get him through the 90 minutes.

In most circumstances the £2m striker would take centre stage but with Karamoko Dembele now eligible the 16-year-old will be closely watched as his professional career finally kicks off.
