The reputation of Scottish referees and the SFA took another savage blow tonight when Daniel Bachmann had his red card at Ibrox on Wednesday night rescinded.

Steve Clarke was outraged by the decision taken by referee Alan Muir on the recommendation of an assistant to give the Kilmarnock keeper a red card after Glen Kamara fell dramatically to the deck.

Bachmann was astonished by the decision which came 20 minutes after Killie had been denied a clear penalty when Joe Worral held Eamonn Brophy back inside the penalty box.

Killie’s website stated:

Daniel Bachmann is free to play for Killie against Livingston after the red card he received against Rangers was rescinded.

The Killie keeper was sent off by referee Alan Muir after 26 minutes of Wednesday’s Scottish Cup fifth round replay against Rangers at Ibrox following an off the ball incident involving Glen Kamara.

The club successfully challenged the ruling of violent conduct this evening and Daniel can take his place in Saturday’s squad.

Having Bachmann available tomorrow is of little consolation to Kilmarnock after their Scottish Cup ambitions were ended by a combination of match officials.

Muir was the additional assistant close to Josh Meeking’s handling a netbound Leigh Griffiths header in the 2015 Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle.

Earlier this season Clarke was censured for criticism of the Appeal Process when a red given to Garry Dicker in a match against Hearts wasn’t overturned. Clarke claimed that the appeal was rejected because the SFA didn’t want to undermine Willie Collum in the lead up to the first Glasgow derby which he had been awarded.
