A day after revealing Celtic’s apparent interest in Tomas Kalas The Sun are drumming up Bristol City’s prospects of holding onto the defender.

Kalas is on a season long loan from Chelsea- his seventh loan spell since joining the London club as a teenager from Slovakia.

The Championship is the second most over-heated transfer market around with a striker capable of getting a dozen goals, such as Martyn Waghorn capable of commanding a fee in the region of £8m.

According to The Sun:

BRISTOL CITY are vowing to fight to keep hold of Celtic target Tomas Kalas.

SunSport revealed the Hoops are keen on the £5?million-rated Chelsea defender.

Czech international Kalas has starred for the Robins during a season-long loan at Ashton Gate — and that has caught the eye of Hoops boss Neil Lennon.

It’s thought Kalas, features highly on the shortlist of targets drawn up by interim boss Lenny.

But the 25-year-old’s stand-out displays mean more than a dozen clubs are keeping tabs on his progress.

Seven or eight years ago Celtic signed Joe Ledley, Adam Matthews and Gary Hooper from the second tier of the English game but their most recent transfer deals have been in the Ukraine and Slovakia.

As well as a £5m transfer fee Kalas would be expecting wages in line with or greater than the highest earners currently at Celtic.

On Friday Neil Lennon revealed that he had held transfer talks with Peter Lawwell and Lee Congerton but with no permanent manager in place it’s unlikely that any player will be committing themselves to a move to Celtic.
