Mikey Johnston has admitted that his world didn’t stop spinning when Brendan Rodgers quit Celtic to take charge of Leicester City.

Two weeks ago Rodgers took training for the last time, exiting Lennoxtown by the back-door as John Kennedy took training ahead of the visit to Hearts as speculation and uncertainty swirled over Celtic.

Johnston was given his first team debut and two new contracts by the former boss but greeted the move to Leicester with a shrug of his shoulders as he continues his bid to force his way into the first XI- regardless of who the manager is.

I wasn’t too down,” the 19-year-old told The Sun. “The old gaffer liked me and gave me opportunities, which I was really grateful for but managers moving on is a part of football, and it’s just something we have to deal with.

I’m still young. I’m just working hard and trying to bide my time. Hopefully I will get the opportunities.”

Johnston was a half-time substitute in the stalemate with Aberdeen as Celtic tried to take a 10 point lead at the top of the table.

Derek McInnes’ side arrived on the back of seven successive away wins in the SPFL which is in contrast to their home form during that period which has seen them held at home by Stenhousemuir and St Mirren while losing to Hamilton Accies.
