St Gallen have announced that they will play a pre-season friendly against Celtic.
The Swiss side are celebrating their 140th anniversary and have arranged a match against the most successful club in the world that also plays in green and white.
St Gallen’s Kybunpark Stadium will host the match with Celtic flying in from their Austrian training base.
The Sun reports:
St Gallen president Matthias Huppi said: “We have received a lot of support from all sides in recent months, so we want to give something back to the fans and our backers. Hopefully, the celebrations this year will be memorable.”
The first leg of the first round qualifiers in the Champions League will be played on June 9 or 10 with the return a week later.
The draw for the first two rounds of the Champions League will be made on June 18 with Celtic certain to be seeded for those rounds and highly likely to be seeded throughout the Champions Route stage which again consists of four rounds.
Austrian side SC Pinkafield have announced a pre-season friendly on June 26 with the hoops also expected to announce a pre-season match in Dublin in mid July.
The SPFL will open up the 2019/20 season on the weekend of Saturday August 4.
