Dedryck Boyata looks to have played his last match for Celtic.

Injury forced the defender off after 75 minutes of Sunday’s Glasgow derby leaving the hoops to play out the remainder of the match with 10 men.

Celtic are waiting for the results of a scan coming back but, if as suspected, it’s a hamstring tear rather than a pull, the defender won’t play again this season.

The Sun reports:

Asked if that was the last time supporters would see him play for Celts, Lennon said: “Possibly.

He felt it rip. He played on having felt a twinge and then he felt a rip five minutes later.

Again, we’ll have to wait and see, but it’s a blow because he’s been absolutely brilliant.”

Boyata’s injury is likely to open the door for a surprise recall for Marvin Compper who has only played 81 minutes of first team football since signing from RB Leipzig in January 2018.

The German has been playing regularly for the Celtic Reserve side which appears to put him ahead of Jack Hendry and Jozo Simunovic for a place against St Mirren.

Simunovic hasn’t played since the 1-0 Europa League defeat away to Valencia while Hendry’s only first team action this year was as a second half substitute for Ryan Christie in the 4-1 win over Motherwell on February 24.
