He doesn’t have a song, sets of stickers or grab the megaphone but no one at Celtic underestimates the importance of James Forrest.

On Sunday at Hampden he opened the match up with a 25 yard wonder goal which came a fortnight after side footing home the decisive goal in the Glasgow derby.

So far Forrest has scored 17 times for Celtic on top of five for Scotland as he enjoys his best ever season with every chance of taking his tally of medals to 16 before the end of May.

Kieran Tierney enjoys much more attention and the adulation of supporters but is among the first to pay tribute to the winger leading the drive towards another treble.

Speaking to The Sun KT said:

James’s form is scary. He has had a brilliant season, scoring so many great and important goals. Sunday was another great performance by him.

His goal just shows how good a player he is. He is one of the best I have ever played with.

I’m so pleased for James. He’s such a hard worker. He keeps his head down, doesn’t like the headlines and gets on with his football.

He is a really special player. I’ve said plenty of times that I hate playing against him in training, because he’s just so difficult to go up against.

The consistency James has shown over recent years has been brilliant, especially for a winger. It’s such a difficult position to play.”

Forrest was a few years ahead of Tierney coming through the ranks at Celtic but both players understand the demands of the club having joined the club while still at primary school.
