David Turnbull is poised to complete his transfer to Celtic.

Six days after Motherwell announced that they had accepted an offer for the midfielder it seems that the £3m rated transfer is about to be completed.

Under the headline ‘PERFECT FIT David Turnbull to sign for Celtic as skipper Scott Brown welcomes him to club’ The Sun reports:

The 19-year-old is finally expected to sign after several days of deadlock over personal terms.

It looked like things had turned sour on Friday afternoon when Celtic issued a tweet explaining why the transfer had deadlocked with a nod towards the involvement of agent Liam O’Donnell.

The mood of the Celtic support quickly swung in line with the club after the delight on Wednesday of what appeared to be the club taking decisive action on the transfer front.

All parties will have a few issues to smooth out when Turnbull is unveiled as the most expensive teenager in Scottish football.

After one dynamic season in the Motherwell first team his old club is set to receive a fee that will wipe out their debt and give manager Stephen Robinson some funds to refresh his squad.

Turnbull will join the Celtic squad before they fly to Austria with the prospect of making his competitive debut on his 20th birthday with Celtic playing their first Champions League qualifier on July 9 or 10, the latter being his birthday.
