Steven Gerrard has been priced out of a move for George Edmundson.

Oldham have rejected three offers for the defensive starlet who was recently given a VIP trip around the state-of-the-art Murray Park training complex.

With Gareth McAulay released at the end of the season and Joe Worral returning to Nottingham Forest there is an obvious shortage of defenders at Ibrox.

Edmundson is rated as one of the hottest prospects in the fourth tier of the English game but it now looks like he will miss out on a dream move to Ibrox and the chance to be a part of the Gerrard Revolution.

The Sun reports:

The Ibrox side have had three bids thrown out for the 21-year-old, who has a year left on his contract.

Their most recent offer was believed to be around the £600,000 mark, but reports claim the Latics want over £1million.

SunSport understands Gers are reluctant to go any higher and will look at alternative options if Oldham don’t lower their asking price.

Gerrard claimed that he needed to bring in quality players to go straight into the side but so far he has only added Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie to last season’s losers.

A deal for free agent Greg Stewart has been strongly speculated over but so far there has been no announcement about the former Dundee and Cowdenbeath ace moving to Ibrox.
