Unai Emery has kept a diplomatic silence over Arsenal’s second failed bid for Kieran Tierney.

The Gunners finished last season with a heart-less defeat to Chelsea in the final of the Europa League with the misery continuing for their fans into the close season.

A well leaked £40m offer for Wilfried Zaha was instantly rejected by Crystal Palace who are looking for twice that figure with a second offer for Tierney knocked back by Celtic over the weekend.

On the day that Aaron Ramsey was introduced to the media by Juventus following his Bosman deal the pressure is on Arsenal to boost their squad but Emery had nothing to cheer supporters after the 3-0 win over Colorado Rapids.

The club is working,” he told The Mirror when asked about new signings. “We are speaking every day with the club and Edu (Technical Director). I prefer to work with patience and calm and take the best decision.

We have very good players, very young good players. We need someone to help us. The club is working on that. We prefer to take the best decision with patience. If we need to wait more time for this reason I prefer to do that.”

Yesterday a statement from a group of prominent supporters groups and bloggers slammed owner Stan Kroenke for his running of the club which last win the EPL 15 years ago.

With Spurs now settled into a new stadium and establishing themselves as a Champions League club Arsenal are becoming marginalised as the third club in London.

The transfer deadline for EPL clubs is 5pm on August 8.
