Kieran Tierney’s agent has spoken out about speculation linking the defender with a £25m move away from Celtic.

Allan Preston works for the Stellar Group that represents Tierney and is in regular contact with the defender who has been linked with Arsenal over the last fortnight.

It seems that an initial bid of £15m was rejected and despite promises of a follow up offer nothing has yet materialised from Arsenal or from Napoli.

There has been suggestions that Tierney, who is under contract until 2023, is angling for a move but there was no suggestion of that from Preston who believes that any transfer will be instigated by Celtic if they accept an offer.

Speaking on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme he said: “It is all down to Celtic, if they get a price that they believe is the correct value for Kieran Tierney he could possibly be on his way. No one has hit that price yeT.

“I know Kieran really well, I had some food with him the other day, he is such an unassuming young man. He is wealthy at the moment but he doesn’t possess a watch, he isn’t into material things like this. He still hangs about his pals from when he was a youngster, he sponsors his local pub team where his pals play and he’s not into his designer gear or anything like that.

“As the guys say he loves Celtic, he absolutely loves Celtic. Will there be a time for Kieran Tierney to go? I think that there will be, if it’s just now it will be upto the clubs involved. Arsenal, Napoli or whoever to then put the money on the table and make Celtic think about this.

“If he is on his way he’s on his way. If there is a time for Kieran to go it will be upto Celtic, Peter Lawwell and the board. They have signed a left back but they do need one because Izaguirre is away.”

Tierney is currently out injured following a double hernia operation at the end of last season and will miss both legs of the Champions League qualifier against FK Sarajevo.

On Wednesday night Celtic completed the £3m signing of left-back Boli Mbombo from Rapid Vienna but despite constant speculation there has been no transfer request or suggestion that Tierney is looking to get out of Celtic.
