Celtic have signed Moritz Bauer on loan from Stoke City.

The defender was linked with Celtic in the final few days of the summer 2018 transfer window but has now been signed up on loan for the remainder of this season.

When Neil Lennon took over as caretaker manager in February the playing time of Jeremy Toljan, Timo Weah and Oli Burke was reduced with Lennon wanting to use players who would be available for the most important games of the year- Champions League qualifiers.

There is an option to buy in the Bauer deal but that also means that there is an option not to buy!

Stoke signed Bauer from Rubin Kazan in January 2018 but he found himself playing for a club being relegated from the EPL. Last season he appeared in eight Champinship matches with Nathan Jones becoming his third manager after being signed by Paul Lambert then a stint under Gary Rowett.

The 27-year-old Austrian has yet to play any competitive football which almost certainly rules him out of being involved at Ibrox on Sunday.
