After returning to favour against Dunfermline on Saturday Craig Gordon was put in front of the media yesterday to preview Celtic’s Europa League Play Off against AIK.

The keeper has only made two top team appearances this year after losing his place to Scott Bain but looked set for a run in the side until the dramatic news this morning that Fraser Forster was returning to Celtic.

There has been speculation about Forster re-joining Celtic with Gordon anticipating that prospect yesterday.

The Sun reported:

It doesn’t matter who is in here, I want to play. And the only way I can do that is by playing well. If he does bring in another goalkeeper, then I’ll need to play very well to make sure I keep my place. If I don’t, I’ll have to live with that.

I’ll happily fight anyone for their place. Not actually fight them! But you know what I mean. Not big Fraser, I wouldn’t fight him for it but joking aside, that’s the mentality I have, no matter what.

Forster isn’t eligible for either match against AIK but it’s unlikely that he’ll have left Southampton without some sort of assurance over first team football.

Neil Lennon twice signed Forster on loan from Southampton before the move was made permanent in the summer of 2012, last season the 31-year-old only made one first team appearance with Southampton losing 3-0 away to West Ham.
