Celtic are reported to have kick-started moves to sign Greg Taylor.

The Kilmarnock left-back has been linked with Celtic at various times during the transfer window but with 10 days left till the end of trading it is now or never time.

Taylor’s game progressed rapidly during Steve Clarke’s time at Rugby Park with Killie rejecting two offers from Nuremberg for his signature.

Celtic spent £3m bringing in Boli Bolingoli from Rapid Vienna last month with Kilmarnock looking for a similar fee according to the Daily Record.

Celtic have launched their attempt to sign Kilmarnock star Greg Taylor. It’s understood the eight in a row winners got in touch with the Rugby Park club on Thursday to ask how much they wanted for their left-back. And it’s believed Celtic were told £3million.

The Hoops are still interested in the Scotland cap but do not want to go as high as the figure quoted. Celtic have not tabled a bid but there is expected to be an offer made over the next 48 hours. Killie chairman Billy Bowie is aware Taylor is keen on the move.

Earlier this week Kilmarnock signed Niko Hamalainen on a season long loan from QPR which provided a large hint that they were making plans for the departure of Taylor.

In January Youssouf Mulumbu went on loan from Celtic to Kilmarnock with the hoops able to offer Calvin Miller and Jack Hendry on loan to help ease a deal through.

Taylor made his Scotland debut against Belgium in June and has played in over 100 SPFL appearances for Killie.
