Celtic fans were spared another cup exit today but the feeling after the 2-1 extra-time win over Dunfermline matched or surpassed the dejection felt on Tuesday night after losing to Cluj.
James Forrest again came to the rescue with a goal in the second period of extra-time after Mikey Johnston’s opener had been cancelled out.
Before the kick off the Green Brigade made their feelings known about the down-sizing of the club while bonuses are passed around by the Remuneration Committee like there is no tomorrow.
Just over 20,000 Celtic fans paid to watch a team totally shot of confidence stagger through two hours of play against Championship opponents who have opened their league campaign with two draws.
The ails of the club have been evident for at least a year- European competition will always be the true barometer of where Celtic stand in the game. Losing out to the unseeded champions of Greece and Romania in successive seasons before the Play-Off round.
Over the next 15 days Celtic face AIK twice in the Europa League, Hearts in the league then a trip to Ibrox. Only a fool would bet on things getting better before they get worse, much worse with the atmosphere around the club getting more toxic by the day.

The saddest thing is this will change nothing.

Reduced crowds will indeed force change. PL treats the support like idiots, watch the backlash.
