Celtic fans saw enough in an explosive opening from Mo Elyounoussi against Hamilton to be convinced that the loan signing from Southampton can make an impact on the Scottish game.
Within the first five minutes he had a shot blocked and assisted in the only goal of the game when James Forrest crashed the ball home from six yards out.
It was only the second start of 2019 for the Norwegian who fell out of favour with Southampton but has a strong pedigree from his days with Molde and Basle.
With Mikey Johnston injured Elyounoussi was given a starting place on the left with his low driven cross converted as Celtic dominated the early exchanges.
The new bhoy linked effortlessly with his new team-mates but just as Celtic dropped the tempo around the half hour mark so to did the loan signing.
‘Getting minutes in their legs’ has been a favoured saying from Neil Lennon in the early stages of the season with Tom Rogic replacing Elyounoussi in the 67th minute.
Lennon can now assess the reaction of the Norwegian internationalist but it wouldn’t be a surprise if Olivier Ntcham came into the midfield against Rennes on Thursday with Elyounoussi starting on the bench.
@CelticFansTV Well done Celtic. Our best start to a league season since 1906! Elyounoussi looks a real talent who can only enhance our depth in attack, as does the return of Tom Rogic. Bring on Rennes & for the love of Larsson, our support must give James Forrest his own song! ????

Elyounoussi must be wondering what he’s got himself in to. Awful game, awful performance, awful pitch, embarrassing stadium. The Fountain of Youth Stadium ffs ????????

In full control, need to use the width more to create space for more goals, elyounoussi doing well but drifting inside far too much for me crowded in there already
