Celtic fans were delighted by the news that James Forrest had committed himself to another new contract.

The winger has replaced his current deal with a new contract that runs until 2023 with hoops fans hoping that he continues to rack up trophies and winners medals at the rate he has discovered in the last three years.

Caretaker boss Neil Lennon gave Forrest his first team debut in 2010, two years later at Rugby Park he played a key role in the comeback from being 3-0 down to take a point from Kilmarnock that prevented the manager from handing in his resignation.

Alongside Scott Brown, Forrest has contributed to eight title successes. While others have come and gone at the club Forrest has stayed the course with a medal total that surpasses most of the Lisbon Lions.

Forrest has picked up 17 medals, 8 in the SPL/SPFL, five from the Scottish Cup and three from the League Cup which includes goals in the 2015, 2016 and 2017 finals.

At 28 years of age there is still plenty of time for more medals with a 100th goal expected next season, his goal on Sunday at Aberdeen was his 81st for the club.
