Neil Lennon diplomatically got around making a 28 match prediction at yesterday’s media conference.

For two rounds of matches the two Glasgow teams have been tied on points with Celtic initially ahead on goals scored before Sunday’s results put them clear on goal difference.

Ronnie Esplin of the Press Association has covered eight successive Celtic title triumphs and cast his mind forward to May and the prospect of both teams finishing on the same points total.

Q) Do you think that the league could come down to goal difference?

A) I hope not

Q) Do you think that it’s tight enough that it could?

A) I’m not a clairvoyant Ronnie, honestly. We’re nine games (it’s 10) into the season so there’s more than two thirds of the season to go so it’s way too early to predict how the season is going to pan out. We’re playing well and it’s important to just keep that momentum going

Ten games into the season and Celtic have played six matches away from home while Steven Gerrard’s side have enjoyed six matches at Ibrox.

Neil Lennon’s side have been to Ibrox, Fir Park and Pittodrie in their opening away days as well as two of the plastic pitches in use in the SPFL Premiership.

Over the next six rounds of matches Celtic’s only away game is at Ross County on December 1 with the hoops the only club in the division to have a 100% home record.
