Image for Lennon confirms talks with Greg Taylor

Neil Lennon has reassured Greg Taylor that he’ll get his chance with Celtic.

At the start of September some Celtic fans were willing to throw him into a derby debut at Ibrox as his transfer from Kilmarnock appeared to reach a conclusion.

On that sunny Glasgow afternoon Boli Bolingoli stood up to the plate, turned in a master-class and suddenly the signing of the Kilmarnock defender became an afterthought on the final day of the transfer window.

Taylor has been an unused substitute four times for Scotland but has only made the bench for one Celtic match, the 3-1 win over Kilmarnock on the back of the Europa League draw away to Rennes.

The timing of the transfer appears to have been very cruel on the left-back but Lennon has assured Taylor that he is part of his plans:

It’s been difficult for him because Boli (Bolingoli) has been in and pretty consistent then with Jonny (Hayes) in terms of a squad player can play in a number of positions and Greg is just a bona fida left-back if you want to call it that.

I had a chat with him earlier in the week, he understands, he has to be patient and wait his turn but he will get his chance, there’s no question about that.

Wednesday’s SPFL match at home to St Mirren would appear to be a decent opportunity for Taylor to make his Celtic debut.
