Neil Lennon is looking for Mo Elyounoussi to reproduce some of his European magic against Lazio tomorrow night.

Four years ago, the Molde winger was hammering a nail into Celtic’s Europa League coffin with wins home and away, earlier this month he created and scored a memorable goal, off a Romanian back-side, in the 2-0 win over Cluj.

Last season was something of a misery for the Norwegian as he struggled to make an impact at Southampton after being recruited by star maker Ross Wilson.

Neil Lennon has got Elyounoussi’s back on track with the hoops boss expecting another big performance from the on-loan winger:

He’ll be very important tomorrow night; he has a great European pedigree from his time with Basle and he has played in the Premier League with Southampton.

I think that now you are seeing the qualities that he has, a very intelligent player and very strong. His movement is good, he’s very fluid with the ball, compliments the players around him very well and his work ethic is fantastic. We’re delighted with the impact that he is making, he’ll be very important tomorrow night.

Southampton paid Basel £16m for the winger last summer but were happy to send him out to Celtic for a season after a difficult first season in England.

That transfer fee rules out any prospect of Celtic making the move permanent but if he recaptures his Molde and Basel form Lennon won’t be too disappointed at the end of the season.
