As transfer timing goes it wold be hard to get things more wrong.

On the morning after Fraser Forster’s incredible saves against Lazio are being examined, replayed and celebrated a publication in Greece is tipping Celtic to make a move in January for a goalkeeper!

According to SDNA Celtic are preparing an offer for AEK keeper Vasilis Barka who could be on his way in a 7m euros deal. January isn’t the time to be disrupting a defence by bringing in a fourth goalkeeper of the season regardless of how exceptional Barka is.

When his Celtic deal ends in May Forster will have two years left on his contract with Southampton where he was third choice at the start of the season.

The former England keeper might have projected himself into the shop window for a move elsewhere but after moving to Southampton in 2014 he should be well looked after financially.

Forster will be 32 at the time, since returning to Celtic he has rediscovered the joy of playing with an edge, chasing trophies, European nights and the cut and thrust of playing for a club that must win every week. Whether that is available to him elsewhere is debateable but Celtic will be giving it a good try in the summer.

Getting Forster back on a permanent basis will be much more of a priority than a 7 million January punt when Neil Lennon already has Forster, Craig Gordon and Scott Bain competing for the gloves with Ross Doohan and Conor Hazard out on loan in The Championship.
