Celtic turned on the style to beat Cluj 2-0 to go into top place in Europa League Group E.
The Romanian side had ended Celtic’s interest in the Champions League two months ago but there was no repeat of that 4-3 scoreline as Neil Lennon’s side controlled the match from the first whistle.
Fraser Forster, Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli came into the Celtic defence which was rarely troubled allowing the attacking players to put the pressure on their visitors.
Great work by Callum McGregor and Boli Bolingoli created an opening for Odsonne Edouard in the 20th minute with the striker confidently heading home the opening goal.
Celtic looked capable of scoring as they broke with pace and purpose, just before the hour mark loan bhoy Mo Elyounoussi won the ball in midfield, exchanged passes with James Forrest then cheered as his shot struck a defender and flew into the back of the net.
With Lazio beating Rennes 2-1 matchday 3 and the visit of the Italian side will give Celtic the chance to make a down payment on achieving a place in the last 32 of the Europa League.
