After more than a decade as the face of Scottish football for Sky Sports David Tanner has been trying to reinvent himself in recent times.

Some commissions from BT Sport have come his way as he restyles his career with what should be an impressive contact book keeping him busy through various corporate events.

Social media is essential for retaining a profile these days but with it comes the danger of revealing your true feelings after years of pretending to be a neutral, bigging up your support for the Scotland national side and perhaps finding a pet diddy team. Partick Thistle, St Mirren and Airdrie are the favoured clubs for that option.

Trying to stay upbeat and topical Tanner decided to share his thoughts on Jack Hendry’s loan move to Australian side Melbourne City. Unfortunately, his dislike for Celtic got the better of him with one Twitter user returning fire in hilarious style.

Hendry’s career extends to half a good season for Dundee which caught the attention of Brendan Rodgers. After being played out of position at full-back his career returned to the levels that saw him sent out on loan to Shrewsbury and MK Dons while he was at Wigan.

Picking up Scotland caps now means very little. David Bates has a few, Grant Handley has loads, Mikey Devlin of Aberdeen has recently been capped. None of those players would get near a move to Celtic.

Like Hendry it seems like Tanner’s best days are firmly in the past.
