Michael Stewart has taken obsessive Alastair Johnston to task over his claims about the new club at Ibrox.

Seven years after the old club was put into liquidation Johnston decided to start questioning the attitude of Celtic fans who have stuck by the facts of 2012 rather than buying into the continuity lie.

Hearts fans have been quick to point out the facts of 2012, while Ibrox fans stood back with their hands buried deep in their pockets they clubbed together to provide a pot for a CVA and are still paying off following their administration in 2013.

Johnston was appointed chairman of the old Rangers club by Dave Murray and was responsible for the club accounts and submitting licence applications to the SFA to play in European competition.

Rather than publish the secret report that Ibrox directors produced on Craig Whyte Johnston opted to exit the side door quietly as deluded fans welcomed the billionaire from Motherwell into Ibrox.

With the new club facing a £10m funding shortfall and a bill for ‘many millions of pounds’ to Sports Direct in a fortnight’s time Johnston hasn’t given Ibrox fans any indication of how those issues will be dealt with.

In the 2012/13 season the new Rangers club competed in Scottish League Three and took part in the first round of the League Cup and Scottish Cup. Celtic and Motherwell represented Scotland in Champions League qualifiers.
