Efe Ambrose has revealed that he went undercover at Ibrox before signing an 18 month contract with Livingston.

The Nigerian was a key defender in Celtic’s 2011/12 title success when he played alongside Kelvin Wilson and Glenn Loovens as the title was secured at Rugby Park.

Ambrose was still playing regularly under Ronny Deila but quickly dropped out of contention when Brendan Rodgers arrived at Celtic Park.

After a loan spell at Hibs alongside Neil Lennon Ambrose made the move on a permanent basis where he helped the Edinburgh side to fourth place in their return to the top flight.

Following a short spell at Derby County last season he was a free agent but yesterday returned to Scotland to join Livi- after enjoying a watching brief at Ibrox on Sunday.

The Sun reports:

Ambrose, 31, revealed he watched his new team in action in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Rangers. But the former Nigeria international was keen to keep the move under wraps and said: “I kept my hat on so no one could get a look at me. Nobody thought Efe Ambrose would be in Scotland, so no one noticed me.”

Celtic travel to Livingston on March 4 looking for their first win in four trips to the Tony Macaroni Arena, after the split Celtic are likely to be given a third away day at Livingston.
