Kenny Miller played his last competitive football match on January 18.

After missing a 43rd minute sitter against Celtic the Partick Thistle striker was substituted by Gary Harkins for the last 10 minutes of the Scottish Cup tie.

Three weeks later his retirement was announced with a full time career in the media expected, Miller has long been a media favourite.

The timing of Miller’s announcement seems very convenient. On Tuesday Celtic asked for an explanation from Sky Sports into their ‘translation’ of an interview with Alfredo Morelos. Celtic were given an apology with Miller’s retirement announced almost in tandem with Celtic’s follow-up announcing that the issue had been escalated to Ofcom.

Miller’s retirement has been welcomed across the media, a quick delve into the archives and there are plenty of Old Firm moments to be revived.

A wonderfully timed squirrel. The homepage of BBC Scotland football doesn’t mention either Celtic statement, it does pay tribute to Miller on his retirement.

Perhaps there could be a recently created vacancy inside BBC Scotland awaiting the former Ibrox striker?
