The League of Ireland was showcased at the Tallagh Stadium last night as Shamrock Rovers hosted Dundalk with both sides going into the match with 100% records from their first three matches of the campaign.
Over 7,000 fans turned up and weren’t short-changed as both teams showed that there is plenty of life, competition and quality outside of the EPL. In contrast to those that watched Norwich beat Leicester on telly the punters at Tallagh were richly entertained.
Despite losing 3-2 Dundalk midfielder Jordan Flores provided the main talking point of the evening.

It looked like a rehersed set piece but that hardly matters, the execution from Flores wouldn’t have been out of place in any of the Champions League fixtures played earlier in the week.
The connection was as good as it gets. As the corner reaches his area of the pitch Flores volleys the ball perfectly, driving it high into the net before anyone else could dare to get in its path.

Rovers came back to win the match 3-2 with an 83rd minute winner from Jack Byrne but it was the second goal for the visitors that will be best remembered.
