With football suspended it’s looking likely that Andy Halliday has played his last game for the club from Ibrox.

The utility man is out of contract at the end of May with the signs suggesting that there will be no competitive football before July at the earliest.

Halliday was one of Mark Warburton’s key signings in the summer of 2015, joining the club alongside James Tavernier, Martyn Waghorn, Jason Holt and Wes Foderingham.

That Supermarket Sweep of talent romped to win The Championship and Petrofac Cup but stepping up to play against full-time opponents proved too much for Halliday and crew.

On 10 September 2016 the former Bradford City man replaced Nico Kranjcar at half-time in the Glasgow derby but was helpless to prevent a 2-1 deficit from running into a 5-1 rout as Moussa Dembele announced his arrival on the Scottish scene. At the end of the match Halliday applauded the loyal away support.

From then on, the former Livingston starlet was haunted by Celtic, none more so than in the clip above when he was hauled off before half-time by Graeme Murty during a 4-0 Hampden hammering from Celtic.

Two weeks later his name was chanted regularly through the 5-0 title clincher, sadly it seems unlikely that Celtic fans will get to see True Blue Halliday in derby action again.
