Barry Ferguson is tonight celebrating his first ever title win apparently won with fully eligible players.
Two months after the last round of fixtures the Lowland League have awarded the 2019/20 title to Kelty Hearts.
Ferguson’s team are six points ahead of Bonnyrigg Rose who have a game in hand, Kelty have five matches left to play while Bonyrigg have six fixtures left to complete.
With no training allowed until June 10 the Lowland League have taken the common sense decision to call a halt and award their title based on the standings at March 13.
On his various media platforms Ferguson has been campaigning for all leagues to completed emphasising how Celtic’s 13 point lead at the top of the SPFL Premiership could be over turned.

The board of the SLFL have today decided to end the league competition with immediate effect. The board took into account the points per game average based on the standings at the cessation of football on the 13th March, and as such have declared that Kelty Hearts are this season’s champion Club.
Furthermore, the board would like to make it clear that it feels that no member club should be disadvantaged by the current health crisis we face, and as such there will be no relegation from the SLFL in season 2019/20. We are aware of the implications for our fellow pyramid leagues, the EoSFL and SoSFL, and will announce contingency plans to cover this in due course.
Last week the SPFL announced that there would be no Play-Off between the bottom side in League Two with the winner of a Play Off between the Highland League and Lowland League.
As a player Ferguson won a number of SPL titles when Rangers were fielding ineligible players who were on dual contracts. In 2017 the Supreme Court announced that the scheme used by Rangers was disguised remuneration.
