Whinging Gary McAllister has been swamped with calls from his English friends about the apparent chaos in Scottish football.

The former Leeds United midfielder, who missed a penalty at Wembley in 1996, has tagged on to the comments of Steven Gerrard yesterday in a choreographed attempt by the Ibrox PR machine to undermine Scottish football.

Perhaps if McAllister had a basic grasp of Company Law or spoke to someone outside of Ibrox he might learn a little more before sharing his paranoia.

Over 80% of the SPFL clubs voted in favour of the proposal, the clubs that his employer was so concerned for last week are today receiving a payment from the SPFL which will allow them to meet their April pay-roll commitments.

Picking up on an interview with BT Sport the Daily Record reports McAllister saying:

The facts are that it’s been an untidy week for me, it’s looked messy right from the word go: yes votes, no votes, the changing of minds. The whole process of the voting has just been messy and untidy and it’s reflected badly on our national sport, on the Scottish game.

I live in Yorkshire, rent in Glasgow. I’m back south of the border, in Yorkshire, and I’ve got people phoning up just to ask “what’s happening?”.

They’re gobsmacked at the situation. It’s just been untidy. I reiterate the words of the manager and chairman and board of directors that it’ll take an independent review to clear the whole saga up. That’s my stance and I feel the same as my colleagues at Rangers.

Maybe McAllister can explain to his English friends why he has had to take a pay deferral or share some news on what kit his club will be using next season.

For the avoidance of doubt Celtic are 13 points clear of Mr Gerrard’s team at the top of the SPFL Premiership.

Sitting on the bench McAllister has watched his expensively assembled side lose to Hearts (twice), Kilmarnock and Hamilton since enjoying a winter break in Dubai. How many Hamilton players does McAllister’s friends know?
