Tam Cowan has hammered the damp squib dossier from Ibrox that was expected to bring the SPFL to its knees.

Soon after the document was circulated the SPFL replied that it didn’t contain a single shred of evidence against Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie.

Most of Cowan’s BBC Scotland colleagues have been backing the call for an independent investigation with the Saturday Sportsound programme used to rally support for the call.

On May 12 the SPFL will hold an EGM to vote on whether an investigation should be held but today’s dossier has provided nothing concrete to justify such a course of action.

I would challenge any Rangers fans to point out where the bullying was and where exactly the corruption is.

The way that this was built up over the last couple of weeks we were expecting something like the ‘Who shot JR’ moment from Dallas which absolutely gripped a nation.

But this has been this has been a complete and utter damp squib it is rather embarrassing.

Tomorrow is the 75th anniversary of VE Day but I have to say that if every British soldier in the Second World War had been handed the sort of smoking gun that Rangers supposedly had then we’d be doing this broadcast in German.
