Despite having his claim that a loan and an advance are much the same taken apart by Neil Doncaster live on radio, Tom English shows no sign of dropping his crusade against the board of the SPFL.

Normally the chief sports reporter at BBC Scotland would be able to offer a slightly detached view on an issue but for English the need for an independent investigation of the SPFL has become very personal.

An internet troll might revert to accusing someone of being ‘a Rangers hater’ but it’s not a very dignified for what should be one of the top sporting minds in the country when he is presented with a reasoned counter argument.

One prominent Twitter account, Barcabhoy pointed out that the entire campaign for an investigation appeared to originate from the WhatsApp chat of Scot Gardiner after he appeared on Sportsound on April 11. Virtually nothing has been heard of the Inverness Caley Thistle chief since that appearance.

There are a few ways to look at someone who has had prominent roles at three Scottish clubs over the course of three years, it seems that English is incapable of wondering or questioning what Gardiner’s motives will be.

D-Day won’t be today, it seems that English has picked up the wrong information on this with The Times giving it the famous ’48 hour’ delay.
