Celtic are reported to be ‘monitoring the progress’ of Martin Minchev.

The 19-year-old has four full caps for Bulgaria and will routinely be part of Celtic’s scouting programme- much like Marian Shved, Vakoun Bayo and Patryk Klimala.

Minchev plays on the wing or as a striker for Chemo More but it’s unlikely that a transfer bid will be coming in anytime soon with the Celtic first team squad and pay-roll top heavy at the moment.

The Glasgow Times reports:

Celtic are monitoring the progress of promising young Bulgarian striker Martin Minchev.

The forward, 19, currently plies his trade for Cherno More in Bulgaria’s First League having begun his career in their youth side. Having made the breakthrough as a 17-year-old in 2018, Minchev has gone on to play 72 times for his side, netting 11 goals.

With no live football to cover for the best part of two months scouting departments will be in overdrive reviewing footage and reports from across the world.

Celtic are well off for strikers at the moment with Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard the men in possession with Bayo and Klimala struggling for any meaningful action.

When football emerges from suspension the transfer market is expected to be much different with even the apparently most wealthy clubs forced into serious cost cutting.

Barcelona and Bayern Munich players took pay cuts while Roma’s first team squad are reported to be going four months without pay.

Minchev and others will be watched closely but after committing £5m to Klimala and Ismaila Soro Celtic are likely to be very cautious whenever normal business resumes.
