Steven Gerrard passed the buck to the boardroom when he was asked if he would complete a third year in charge at Ibrox.
Monday marked the second anniversary of his appointment with the trophy count exactly the same as it stood under Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha.
Neither of those two bosses survived two years but in December Gerrard was given a four year extension despite constantly playing second fiddle to Celtic.
Yesterday on TalkSPORT Alan Nixon suggested that he had picked up vibes that Gerrard might not be returning after spending Lockdown back with family in Merseyside.
The Ibrox boss joined Jim White on TalkSPORT this morning, when he was asked if there would be a third anniversary at Ibrox he said:
Ha ha, I think that you should ask the board of directors that question. I will continue to work hard to get better from a personal point of view and strive to improve the players that we’ve got and try to strengthen the team.
I think that we’ve come so so close to avin some success. We have from a European point of view, if you consider where we was when I came into the job, we weren’t getting through qualification in Europe,
In the League Cup Final we played extremely well but Celtic are a good team, they’ve been successful for a long time. They’re a club that has finances so they’re a difficult club to catch and move but we’ve definitely closed the gap.
Last season Celtic won the title by nine points, with eight games still to play this season the hoops are 13 points clear at the top. Last season Aberdeen ended interest in both domestic cups, this season it was Hearts and Celtic that ended trophy hopes with two 1-0 defeats.
