Jeremie Frimpong has been given every assurance from Celtic that it’s safe to return to training at Lennoxtown.

The teenager was having the time of his life when football was suspended on March 13 with no one able to guess at the events about to unfold.

Frimpong returned to his family in Manchester but is now back in Glasgow looking forward to getting back to work.

Celtic have paid £70,000 to bring in two of the latest testing machines from South Korea with every precaution put in place to ensure that some sort of normal is back for the August 1 kick-off to the new season.

Frimpong told The Sun:

It’s going to be a really safe environment for the players at the training ground. The club have put everything in place for the testing and I can’t wait to get back out there.

I love football. I’ve missed the game and I just want to get back to it. When I was at home and we couldn’t play, I felt like I was missing something.

All I’ve been doing back home is running all the time. To think I could even just be kicking the ball with another team-mate is great but I feel fit and strong. I have been working hard.

Celtic players are undergoing medicals ahead of Thursday’s return to training. To begin with two groups of five will report in the morning, the same amount at lunchtime and again in the afternoon. Once Scotland moves into Phase 2 group training will be able to resume.
