Motherwell have set a standard that Celtic and all SPFL Premiership clubs should follow.

Since the announcement yesterday afternoon about Virtual Season Tickets there has been lots of debate across social media about how the new scheme is implemented.

Many households have got more than one Celtic Season Ticket which could result in some fans forking out £1000 for a Netflix type service of two home matches a month.

To avoid all confusion Motherwell will provide a Virtual ticket to all fans who buy a traditional Season Ticket with a credit in terms of matches added for games that fans can’t attend at Fir Park.

In effect if it takes until game 10 before fans are allowed to attend a nine match discount will be applied for season 2021/22 or the fan can pick up nine additional matches tickets.

There has been a lot of confusion over refunds on 2019/20 Season Tickets for matches not played. Trading Standards regulations allow for a complete refund on goods not provided but the majority of supporters have opted to leave the funds with their club.

A repeat of the situation is possible next season if there is a second wave of the pandemic with the Motherwell solution removing clubs from exposure to refunds.

Yesterday Peter Lawwell announced that the Virtual ST would be exclusive to Season Ticket holders but full details on the scheme have still to be announced.
