Leigh Griffiths has been reminded of Scottish Government regulations and the focus on footballers after eight Aberdeen players went into self-isolation.

On the day that the news broke from Pittodrie Griffiths’ partner Caitlyn Melville decided to share a number of images and videos from her surprise birthday party last weekend which included the Celtic striker.

Discussions between the football authorities and the Scottish Government allowed the new season to resume with footballers given special status and being tested twice per week which is a noticeable cost for the majority of Premiership clubs.

The Aberdeen players have been condemned from the First Minister downwards for going out for a meal then visiting a pub with a spike in the city forcing the return of Lockdown.

Covering the Griffiths incident, the Daily Mail reports:

The 29-year-old, who was injured for the win over Hamilton last Sunday, had a gathering at his house last weekend with photographs online showing the number of people inside was one more than the current Scottish Government rules permit.

Although the breach is small, Celtic have spoken to Griffiths to underscore that he still crossed the line and a spokesman said: “We’re aware of it and he has been reminded of his responsibilities”.

Griffiths is missing due to injury from the Celtic squad to play Kilmarnock tomorrow. Aberdeen’s game against St Johnstone today has been postponed with doubts over their matches against Hamilton and Celtic which are scheduled during the period of self isolation for the eight players.
