The Sun has reported that Ben Davies is likely to sign a pre-contract with Celtic in January.

Celtic have been linked with the Preston defender but the need to bring in a new face has been reduced by the loan signing of Shane Duffy.

That could change if an offer comes in for Kris Ajer but for now it seems that Celtic are content to hold back in an unsure transfer market.

Covering Bournemouth’s transfer activity, the English edition of The Sun reports:

As for incomings on the south coast, Tindall is keen on Preston’s Ben Davies who is out of contract next summer.

But SunSport understands the centre-back, 25, is more likely to sign a pre-contract agreement with Celtic in January.

With three weeks left in the extended transfer window there is bound to be further speculation over Davies with Preston having to balance their needs for this season with the economics of losing a player for free as the clock ticks down on his deal.

Duffy’s arrival has given Neil Lennon a number of defensive options. At St Mirren last night Chris Jullien was left on the bench with Hatem Abd Elhamed playing on the right of the back three.
