Craig Levein wants to see Celtic’s title domination brought to an end.

After nine seasons of domination Neil Lennon’s side are looking to become the first side to win 10 successive titles but the former Hearts boss has declared his hand.

Having spent more than half of his life at Tynecastle during two spells as manager and one lengthy spell as a player you’d think that the Glasgow rivalries would be of no interest.

Last season Levein was sacked by Hearts after a disastrous set of results set the club on the way to relegation but he stayed on to claim his salary as Director of Football that ended in May with the club back in the Championship.

Listening in to the former Hearts boss on Radio Scotland today, The Sun reports him saying:

I can’t stand this whole ten in a row thing, it really gets to me. The older I get, the worse I get. I don’t want there to be all the hassle that goes with it so it would be good if Rangers won the league this season so it is back to square one. I just don’t want this whole ten in a row thing to become more than it is so if it goes back to zero we can start again.

You’d expect with no connection to either club that whoever wins the Premiership title is of little or no interest to Levein, seeing Hearts win promotion ought to be his only interest.

Since leaving Hearts at the end of last season Levein has become a regular voice on Radio Scotland despite failing to win a single honour as a player or manager.

In 1986 he missed Hearts final league match away to Dundee due to a tummy upset, a 2-0 win for Dundee coupled with Celtic’s 5-0 win at St Mirren ensured that Davie Hay’s side won the title on goal difference.
