Hatem Abd Elhamed played for Israel against the Czech Republic last night then went into Quarantine.

The defender felt unwell after the 2-1 defeat with the Israeli medical team putting him into isolation before being tested in the morning.

With Nir Bitton reporting positive after the match with Scotland on Thursday it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if his club and country team-mate suffered the same fate.

There has been no reports of Bitton, Odsonne Edouard or Ryan Christie feeling unwell which makes the report on Elhamed more troubling.

Early this morning The Sun reported:

The Israel defender complained of feeling unwell after the Nations League defeat to Czech Republic last night.

The Celtic star was taken out of the squad and will have a virus test this morning as Neil Lennon anxiously waits for the result.

Elhamed and Bitton had returned negative tests with Celtic from June but now the club have concerns for the health of their players after being put into the care of their national association.

Getting a group of 20 plus players flying to one destination to meet up, train and settle into a hotel for two or three nights before flying on to two more venues in the space of 10 days seems like the recipe to spread a virus.

On Wednesday Israel travel to Slovakia before their squad breaks up to return to their club bubbles with another batch of international fixtures starting on November 12.
